In early 2003, I presented Thomas Skarbye with a demo of what was to become Scarbee Imperial Drums, the first library to feature multi microphone outputs and a hi-hat with a still unbeaten record of 14 openings x 14 velocities x 2 playing positions x 2 playing arms on two Midi keys only!
SID saw the light in late 2003 and its Virtual Instrument cousin, SID XL, featuring an expanded set of drums and HALion Player technology from Steinberg, was delivered in late 2005.
I personally owe much to the Scarbee years and to the man himself (and his wife!), since they were the first ones to truly believe in the potential of a record producer converted to the sample libraries field.Imperial Drums was a labor of love, something that I originally decided to produce for my own pleasure and productions and it was mainly due to Scarbee's enthusiasm (he loved the bass drums!) that I decided to deliver it to the world.Scarbee products are among the most advanced and certainly the best sounding in their field and I cannot help but to recommend them to anyone.
